Black Box Studios’ Theater Therapy Programs offer children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities the chance to experience the joy of theater while learning skills and lessons that will help them thrive in every aspect of their lives.

Programs help students build confidence, improve their communication and verbal skills, and express their creativity. Additionally, students learn how to collaborate and get along with their peers and free their minds to accomplish things they didn’t think they could achieve.
BBS’ experienced instructors begin the semester by using improv-based games and exercises to help students explore their creativity and use their voices and bodies to communicate their thoughts and emotions.
Class participants are also introduced to the basics of acting such as how to read dialogue, how to get into character, and how to move around the stage.

Students then use what they have learned to act out scenes that were written specifically for them, culminating in an end-of-semester performance for family and friends.
Black Box’s Theater Therapy Programs bring the thrill of performing to students with disabilities, regardless of their age, background, or experience level. Contact us for more information.
